The Governors, Headteachers and Staff are committed to the maintenance of highest levels of Health & Safety throughout St Francis. The school is a secure site, monitored by CCTV and electronic entry.

The School Nurse visits the school. A medical examination may be requested for a child by parents or teachers. The presence of a parent is essential at a Medical. We do not have a member of the medical profession based on site. The School has 10 Qualified First Aiders. If a child has an accident a report form is completed and parents are informed. Parents are advised to have their child’s sight, hearing and teeth checked regularly. The school dentist visits us approximately once a year and every child has an assessment examination.

If a child requires medicine prescribed by a doctor FOUR TIMES A DAY we are allowed to give it to the child. A form is available from the school office which must be filled in before permission can be given for staff to give the dosage. The medicine MUST arrive in its original package and container, and MUST be handed in at the office. If a child needs three doses of medicines only then these must be given before and after the school day.

Inhalers must be kept with the child; each class teacher will make arrangements for care & storage. We cannot accept responsibility for medicines unless these simple rules are followed.
